Conferred a High School Diploma information for the HOPE Scholarship
A student who received a high school diploma through petition of the local school board, in accordance with O.C.G.A. §20-2-281.1, may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship if they have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (as calculated by GSFC). A student who received a high school diploma through petition is not required to meet academic rigor requirements. Please refer to this page that explains how the HOPE Scholarship grade point average is calculated.
A HOPE eligible high school must be accredited by one or more of the accrediting agencies listed below.
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
- Georgia Accrediting Commission;
- Georgia Association of Christian Schools;
- Association of Christian Schools International;
- Georgia Private School Accreditation Council; or
- Southern Association of Independent Schools.
If you were conferred a high school diploma in accordance with O.C.G.A. §20-2-281.1 and would like to have your high school transcript evaluated for HOPE Scholarship eligibility, complete and submit the Request for HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship Eligibility Determination for Diploma Conferred by Petition. Send the completed request, all transcripts, and required documents as one package to the following address:

A student must also complete the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPPS). The deadline to submit the GSFAPPS is the last day of the semester or quarter that the student is seeking scholarship funds.
