Eligibility for the Georgia Military College State Service Scholarship Loan Program
To be eligible for the GMC State Service Program, you must:
- Be a legal resident of Georgia for a minimum of 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the beginning of fall quarter at GMC;
- Qualify for regular admission to GMC;
- Have graduated high school with a minimum 2.5 GPA and 800 combined SAT or composite 17 ACT score or earned no more than 30 semester/45 quarter hours of postsecondary hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA;
- Be of high moral character and demonstrate good citizenship as evidenced in a letter of recommendation from an administrative official of the high school where the applicant is enrolled at the time the application is made, or from which the applicant graduated;
- Meet mental and physical health standards required for enlistment in the Georgia National Guard;
- Be an entering Freshmen enrolled full time in order to receive a full, two-year award;
- Be a senior scheduled to graduate from high school at the end of the academic year in which the application is made, or must have completed high school but have not begun college in order to receive a full, two-year award;
- Meet federal Selective Service registration requirements, per Georgia state law. The requirement to register applies to males who were born on or after January 1, 1960, are at least 18, are citizens or eligible non-citizens who came to the United States prior to age 26;
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined by the college.
- Not be in default on a federal Title IV or State of Georgia educational loan(s) previously obtained from or through GSFA unless the student has made satisfactory arrangements for repayment;
- Be in compliance in with the Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990.
