Annual COA – Cost of Attendance is based on 2024 data for a GA resident enrolled full-time and living on campus or off campus. Colleges set their COA each year. HOPE Scholarship: Georgia's HOPE Scholarship is available to eligible Georgia residents who earn the required Calculated HOPE GPA of 3.0 or higher and 4 or more credits of rigor courses. The scholarship assists students with a portion of the tuition cost at a HOPE Scholarship eligible college or university.
Zell Miller Scholarship: Georgia's Zell Miller Scholarship is available to eligible Georgia residents who earn the required calculated HOPE GPA of 3.7 or higher with 4 or more credits of rigor courses and have earned a 1200 SAT or its ACT equivalent by their high school graduation. The scholarship covers the standard undergraduate tuition rate at the Zell Miller Scholarship eligible college or university attending.
HOPE Grant: Georgia's HOPE Grant (a separate program from HOPE Scholarship) is available to eligible Georgia residents enrolled in a technical certificate or diploma at an eligible public college or university in Georgia. A minimum 2.0 HOPE Grant GPA is required to maintain eligibility.
Zell Miller Grant: Georgia’s Zell Miller Grant is available to eligible Georgia residents enrolled in a technical certificate or diploma at an eligible public college or university in Georgia. A minimum 3.5 HOPE Grant GPA at the end of each term is required to maintain eligibility.
HOPE Career Grant: The HOPE Career Grant assists with the cost of attendance for HOPE Grant eligible students who enroll in select majors specifically aligned with industries identified as in high demand in Georgia and important to the state's economic growth.
GTEG: The Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Program (GTEG) helps towards educational costs to Georgia residents attending eligible private colleges and universities in Georgia.
Average Private Institutional Aid: Eligible private colleges and universities in Georgia typically provide some additional aid to students to attend the institution with various requirements. The average provided here is based on most current data available. Contact the private college you are planning to attend for additional information.
Federal Pell Grant: is a grant provided by the U.S. federal government to undergraduate students who demonstrate significant financial need. Unlike a loan, it does not need to be repaid. The amount awarded depends on the student's financial situation, the cost of attendance, and enrollment status. The annual FAFSA is required to apply for the Federal PELL Grant.
Subsidized Loan: Direct Subsidized Loans are available to undergraduate students with financial need. Based on federal student loan regulations, your college's financial aid office determines the amount you may borrow, and the amount may not exceed your financial need. An annual FAFSA is required. The loan must be repaid.
Unsubsidized Loan: Direct Unsubsidized Loans are available to undergraduate students; no requirement to demonstrate financial need. Based on federal student loan regulations, your college's financial aid office determines the amount you can borrow based on your cost of attendance and other financial aid you receive. An annual FAFSA is required. The loan must be repaid.
Students preparing to attend college in Georgia at one of the state aid eligible institutions need to:
Create a GAfutures student account if you have not done so already.
Complete the GSFAPP on GAfutures. It is secure, only takes 5 minutes, and you do not have to complete it again while in college. Completing the GSFAPP makes it easy to apply for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarships or Grants and (if attending an eligible private college) GTEG.
Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply for federal and state financial aid. Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and provides you access to the largest source of financial aid available.
