TCSG Connects Students to Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment allows Georgia students the opportunity to begin their post-secondary career while still in high school. Recently, eight Marietta High School students were honored for using the program to successfully complete the Certified Nurse Assistance program at Chattahoochee Technical College.
Training with nursing professionals, these students gained real-world experience in the medical field while also earning college credit.
“With the rigor and difficulty of this program,” said Joe DiDomizio, Chattahoochee Technical College Student Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator, “what these students have achieved is really something to celebrate.”
Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) recently held their sixth annual 'More than Scrubs' event, encouraging young students to learn more about careers in the medical industry.
“The intention of the program is to expose high school students in Houston County,” said Kimberly Gunn, CGTC Executive Director of High School Initiatives, "to all of the different healthcare careers that are available to them here.”
Gunn is over the CGTC Dual Enrollment program and South Georgia Technical College (SCTC) recently announced Macy Williams to a similar role: Admissions Coordinator and High School Initiative Specialist for Crisp County campus.
The position promotes Dual Enrollment to all high schools within SCTC’s seven county area. The state program allows students to take up to 30 semester hours and provides for tuition, college fees and textbooks.
